About the Library
G.E. Society’s RNC Arts, JDB Commerce and NSC Science College, Nashik Road was established in 1963 with a view to provide education to the student community in Nashik Road and its vicinity. To support this motto of the college, Library was started during the same year with a small collection of books and started to support various programmes of the college. Our college library is named as “BALARAM HEMRAJ LAHOTI LIBRARY” and was established in the year 1963″ and it supports the academic and extra-curricular objectives of the college. The library is situated in a separate two-storied building with a built-up area of 7000 sq. ft. The ground floor houses the Books Stack Area, Circulation Counter, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC), Network Resource Centre, Journals and Periodicals section, and Administration Section. The first floor houses, Reading Hall, Reference Section, Periodical section, and Hindi and Commerce research Centre. The library has a strong collection of books in various subjects. The collection of library consists of Text Books, Reference Books, General Books, Journals, Bound Volumes of Periodicals, CDs, and rare Books. The library has separate section of competitive examination books to encourage students to prepare for competitive examination. The college library has subscribed e-books and e-journals through N-LIST from INFLIBNET. Librarian conducted N-List awareness session for students and staff for maximum use of N-List Database and library resources. Book bank scheme is available for needy students.
The library has collection of 98,374 books (as on dated 26/08/2024) on various subjects with adequate number of reference books and serve the information needs of the staff and students of the college by providing access to information in all formats. Library has subscribed 81 journals and periodicals. Library provides Open Access facility to all students and staff to browse the library collection. The reading room facility is available to the students from 09:00 a.m. to 04:40 p.m. on all working days.
The library has inter-library borrowing facility with Government Divisional Library, Nashik Road, Nashik and our G.E. Society’s college’s library. Library has membership of Dosti House, Mumbai (The American Library, Mumbai) and Government Divisional Library, Nashik Road, Nashik. To promote reading habits among students and staff, the library organised book exhibitions.
Library services are partially computerized. The college has installed ‘Library Manager’, software for housekeeping operations. Following services are computerized: Acquisition procedures of library books, Book transaction/circulation, various types of reports are generated automatically, Overdue charges, Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC). Library has an Internet facility to the users and it is available in library working hours. Library provides a book bank facility to needy students. The college library has an informative website (https://sites.google.com/view/gescbclibrary) and provides information of library services, highlights of the library, Rules and regulation of the library, Library collection details, List of Journals and Periodicals, Open access e-books and e- journals links as well as important links etc.
