Electoral Literacy Club (ELC)

Electoral Literacy Club (ELC)

Our college is very proactive, conducting various activities throughout the year. It gives me great pleasure to present the report of the Electoral Literacy Club for the academic year 2023-24. Since the inauguration of the Electoral Literacy Club by Mr. Avinash Shirsath, Nashik District Coordinator of Varship Earth Foundation, on December 2, 2023, the voter registration and awareness campaign has become the most important initiative for the college students, the government, and the nation. This initiative is still being implemented in the college.

The student representatives of the Electoral Literacy Club, Campus Ambassador Mr. Rajukumar Kanojia, Chairman Shoaib Shaikh, Vice Chairman Irfan Nayee, student representative Ms. Saroj Kamble, and other members of the club have worked on voter registration and awareness campaigns. They created posters, read notices in class daily, performed street plays, organized guest lectures, sent messages on WhatsApp, and conducted essay competitions, rangoli competitions, slogan competitions, elocution competitions, and reels to raise awareness about voting. Principal Dr. Manjusha Kulkarni, Nodal Officer Dr. Sudhakar Borse, and Campus Ambassador Mr. Rajukumar Kanojia attended meetings at the Nashik District Collector’s office regarding voter registration and awareness, and expressed their views. They worked hard through various means to achieve 100% voter registration, encouraging their relatives and friends to register as voters.

As a result of these efforts, six colleges across Maharashtra have been selected for their remarkable and innovative work in electoral literacy for the year 2023-24. Among them, Chandak Bitco Chandak College of Gokhale Education Society, Nashik Road, has been honored with the “Best College Award 2024” by the Chief Electoral Officer of Maharashtra, Mr. Shrikant Deshpande. The award was presented to Principal Dr. Manjusha Kulkarni, Nodal Officer Dr. Sudhakar Borse, and Student Council President Prof. Laxman Shendge in Mumbai on January 24, 2024, on the eve of National Voters’ Day. The event was attended by Deputy Collector and Deputy District Election Officer of Nashik, Mr. Shashikant Mangrule, various district collectors and deputy collectors from Maharashtra, Director of Varship Earth Foundation Mr. Tejas Gujarati, and many other dignitaries from Maharashtra.

Overall, during the academic year 2023-2024, various activities related to voter registration and awareness campaigns were conducted. Principal Prof. Dr. Manjusha Kulkarni, Vice Principal of Arts Faculty Prof. Dr. Anilkumar Pathare, Vice Principal of Commerce Department Dr. Akash Thakur, Coordinator of Science Faculty Dr. Kalyanrao Takle, NSS Officer Dr. Santosh Pagar, Student Development Board Officer Dr. Vishal Mane, and NCC Officer Dr. Vijay Sukatate provided valuable support for all these activities.
